Shelley D. Shults, APRN-FNP, MSN, DDS, D.ABDSM
Dr. Shelley Shults own a compelling compassion for excellence in holistic and interdisciplinary healthcare. She is a family nurse practitioner, a general and cosmetic dentist, a board certified dental sleep medicine practitioner, a diplomate of The American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, and is faculty with The American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. Through education, experience, and coupling disciplines, Dr. Shelley is passionate for advancing interdisciplinary knowledge and enjoys public speaking. Her ultimate professional goal is to integrate dental and medical knowledge, and create a patient-centered treatment approach that is free of discipline bias. She is the sole owner of Powell Dental Group LLC, LLC and Powell Dental Sleep Solutions, LLC.
Dr. Shelley is a graduate of The Wichita State University Summa Cum Laude with her BSN (1982), The Ohio State University with her DDS (2001) and Pierre Fauchard Academy honors, MATRx certification (2013), AADSM/ABDSM with board certification and diplomate status in dental sleep medicine (2015), and South University with High Honors of her MSN-FNP (2017). Her experiences include neonatal nursing, community health nursing, family and internal medicine practice, urgent care nursing, out-patient surgery, general and cosmetic dentistry, and dental sleep medicine. She and her husband ‘Kip” have been married for 44 years, have one daughter and three grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys photography, playing the trumpet and piano, cooking, reading, swimming, travel and backyard chickens.
Joseph E. Touhalisky, DDS
Dr. Joe earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from Alma College of Michigan. He attended The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, graduating in 2001, Cum Laude. During his clinical years of dental practice, he has committed his focus to a comprehensive dental model with emphasis in Periodontics, Esthetic Dentistry and Implantology. He received the Northeastern Society of Periodontists Achievement Award and The American Equilibration Society Achievement Award. He was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. He is originally from Northeastern Ohio. Dr. Joe enjoys oil painting landscapes, caring for his salt water aquarium, raising finches, and nature hiking. He and his wife are proudly raising two beautiful daughters, Rylee and Alyssa.
Emily Hutchins, DDS
Dr. Emily grew up in Dublin, Ohio. She graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s degree majoring in Finance with a minor in Spanish. She earned her doctoral degree from UCSF School of Dentistry in San Francisco, California. Dr. Hutchins completed a comprehensive, 12 month AEGD residency at the South Texas Veterans Health Care System in San Antonio, Texas. Her residency focused on the surgical placement and restoration of implants, gum and bone grafts, root canals, advanced crown and bridge, esthetic dentistry, TMD therapy, sleep medicine, Invisalign® and IV sedation. Dr. Hutchins is a member of the American Dental Association and Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Honor Dental Society. Dr. Hutchins was married to Kris in 2017. They reside in Grandview with their dog, Hermione, and cat, Leo. Dr. Hutchins enjoys exercising, baking, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
Stephen C. Phillips, DDS, MS
Dr. Stephen Phillips resides in Westerville, Ohio. He graduated from Sahuaro High School in Tucson in 1998, and attended the University of Arizona graduating with a B.S.in Microbiology in 1992. Dr. Steve furthered his education at Oregon Health Sciences University and received his DMD.in 1997. After graduating from dental school, he practiced general dentistry for 5 years in Tucson, Arizona. During his time as a general dentist, he discovered that there was an unmet need for in office sedation services. He decided to further his education in anesthesia by attending The Ohio State University dental anesthesia program, where he received his MS in dental anesthesiology. He graduated in 2004. Upon completion of the anesthesia program he returned to Tucson and has been providing in-office anesthesia services to children, adults, and special needs patients. He returned to the Columbus area in December 2012. He enjoys spending time with his wife Tonya and his four boys Alec, Jacob, Brayden, and Gavin. In his spare time he likes to play guitar, lacrosse, cycle, read and play guitar in a praise and worship band at church. Dr. Steve easily connects with patients of all ages and will comfort anxious patients during their dental procedure with IV sedation. His kind and cheerful nature is recognized by patients and they are always so grateful for his competent and kind service.
