Dental Implant Restorations

Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. For patients who have lost teeth, implant-supported restorations can restore the ability to eat comfortably and smile with confidence while helping maintain a natural appearance. Dental implants are small titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. Once the implant has bonded with the bone, it provides a strong foundation for an artificial replacement tooth. In addition, dental implants can help preserve facial structure by preventing the bone deterioration that can occur when teeth are missing.

Dr. Shults provides implant restoration services, including the design and placement of customized replacement teeth that attach to dental implants. While the surgical placement of the implants is performed by a dental implant specialist, our team works closely with your implant provider to complete the restorative portion of your treatment and help you achieve a comfortable, natural-looking result.

Evaluation for Dental Implants

If, like many others, you feel implant dentistry is the choice for you, we ask that you undergo a dental examination and health history. During your consultation, your specific needs and considerations will be addressed by Dr. Shults. If you already have dental implants or are planning to have implants placed by an implant specialist, we can discuss the restorative options available for completing your treatment. Your questions and concerns are important to us, and our team will work closely with you to achieve a successful result.

Dental Implant Procedure

Dental implants are metal anchors that act as tooth-root substitutes. Once an implant has been surgically placed and has bonded with the jawbone, a small post called an abutment is attached to the implant. The abutment provides a stable connection for the artificial replacement tooth.

Once your dental implant has healed and is ready for restoration, Dr. Shults can complete the restorative portion of your treatment. An impression or digital scan of your mouth is taken to help design and fabricate your customized replacement tooth. The final restoration is then securely attached to the implant using the appropriate abutment or attachment.

Because implant placement and restoration are separate phases of treatment, we work with your implant specialist to coordinate care and ensure your restoration is designed to provide a comfortable fit, natural appearance, and proper function.

Restoring Your Dental Implants

Advances in dental implant technology have made implant treatment more predictable and versatile. Depending on your individual situation, your implant specialist may use different implant placement techniques or healing protocols. Once the implant has adequately healed and is ready for restoration, Dr. Shults can complete the final restoration and help restore your smile and function.
